Foundation
Born in Seoul, South Korea, Dr. Henna Kim was 2 years old when she and her family arrived in Chicago to pursue the American dream. After a few years of making snow angels in the Windy City, she moved to Memphis, TN where she grew up eating delicious southern BBQ. She then drove cross-country to earn her bachelor’s degree at the esteemed University of California, Irvine where she graduated with honors and was inducted into the nation’s oldest and most prestigious honor society, Phi Beta Kappa. Her second cross-country road trip took her to Philadelphia where she gobbled down philly cheesesteaks and challah french toast while earning her dental doctorate at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. She graduated top of her class and earned her place in the national dental honor society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.
Focus
Upon graduating from dental school, she joined the US Army Dental Corps and served as a military dentist. This venture brought her back to her roots in South Korea where she lived off of the soul-satisfying street food. After a year of being overseas, Dr. Kim’s next assignment brought her to her island home sweet home on Oahu, where the freshest poké and malasadas were a way of life. She then had the incredible opportunity to deploy to Afghanistan and engage with the local people there while taking care of NATO soldiers.
Once her military service was complete, she chose to pursue additional specialty training and education in Orthodontics, which brought her to the world-renowned University of California, Los Angeles where she also earned her Masters in Oral Biology.
In dedication to clinical excellence, she further took on the challenge to become Board Certified in Orthodontics, which represents her commitment to providing lifelong quality patient care.
Passion
After working for other dentists for more than a decade, Dr. Kim is thrilled to bring her passion for orthodontics to her own boutique practice. Now everyone of all ages, in Glendale and greater Los Angeles, can enjoy thoughtful, personalized care in a fun and warm environment where laughter is shared all day!
She is supported by an amazing tribe that includes her husband, son and daughter, and their 2 doggies.
Treatment Philosophy
Dr. Kim believes in taking care of the whole person, not just the mouth, which means she takes into consideration the patient’s feelings, desires, and lifestyle when recommending the best treatment plan for the patient. She understands that every person is unique and has individual circumstances that affect their decisions, and she strives to tailor her care to fit the patient’s needs. Patients appreciate that she is thorough in her explanations regarding diagnosis and treatment options, and they trust that she is open and honest in her assessments and recommendations, as she always has the patient’s best interests in mind.
A beautiful smile is not just about having straight teeth but one that enhances facial balance and oral health by also improving bite function and periodontal (gum and bone) health. Dr. Kim is passionate about providing the best orthodontic care no matter the patient’s background or age (no one is too old for a healthy, brilliant smile), as self-care is for life. She believes in building close relationships with the individuals and families she takes care of, and she is honored for the opportunity to change people’s lives.
